I bought this casting kit as a birthday gift for my partner, when our daughter was 2 months old. It took us another 2 months to actually get round to making the casts, but we now have a long-lasting memory of how tiny she once was!
The kit contains enough materials for several attempts, which you definitely need. It took us 4 goes to get a good enough cast of her foot, and another 2 to get one of her hand. We have enough powder etc left for another 2 casts at least - perhaps for when she's a toddler...
If your baby is a sound sleeper it would be better to do it while he/she is asleep, as the mould sets within minutes and it's hard not to start panicking when it begins to harden - especially if little toes and fingers have been wriggling madly!
The end result is just fantastic though (we didn't use the paints as we wanted a more 'natural' finish), and we are going to build a deep-set frame to put the casts in so we can display them properly on the wall.
I think this casting kit is good value, good quality, and its instructions are easy to follow. The packaging could be improved, but I suppose if you're only going to chuck that once you've made the casts, it doesn't matter so much.

This product produces great results, but its quite fiddly to use and should not be done when time is of the essence! Overall this is a great idea and a well put together package. I tried it on my 2 month old daughter's foot and this worked OK although might have been better if she was asleep! The size of the bags and the amount of paste you get for the moulds make it more difficult for bigger feet and I struggled with my 6 year old son. A great idea but better with littler hands and feet!
